About Us
With a vision to preserve rural North Central Kansas by providing employment opportunities, a group of business professionals organized a small manufacturing company called Osborne Industries, Inc. in 1973. Manufacturing at Osborne Industries began in a rented 4-H building on the county fairgrounds with a single product: the Stanfield heat mat. This electric, under-body heater for newborn livestock animals was originally manufactured by the hand-layup method of composite molding, and was sold as part of Osborne’s proprietary line of livestock management equipment. By 1976, Osborne Industries developed a closed molding process, later known as Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), and launched the development of a new low-cost method of Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) in 1993.
Since our humble beginnings in 1973, Osborne Industries has grown to become a domestic leader in the molding of thermoset plastics, occupying 242,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, warehouse, and office space on 10.5 acres in Osborne, Kansas. Our composites are found in more than 40 different countries and across a wide array of industries including the industrial machinery, construction, medical, and agriculture industries, to name a few.
The diverse operations of Osborne Industries and the rural quality of life enable our company to attract, challenge, and retain an excellent and highly-motivated workforce. Our associates work together as a team with pride in workmanship and with experience in production, administration, engineering, and marketing. In addition, our plastic molding company became employee owned in 2001. Through the Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), all employee owners are empowered to think, act, and work like owners, because we are owners. This ownership mentality means that each of us has a personal ownership in the success of every project we undertake.
We understand your product development and engineering tasks because we make and market our own proprietary agricultural lines which are recognized throughout the world for their innovative design and for creative use of structurally-engineered thermoset plastics for very demanding applications. We look forward to welcoming you and your company to join the growing group of industry leaders that we are proud to serve!
